I was sitting here, thinking of my massive to-do list before Mat gets home and then it hit me... I haven't made the signs for the homecoming ceremony yet. I have been so wrapped up in decorating the house that it slipped my mind.
I do have a few things together, I got Hayley a hairbow, the free banner, bow tie for Jaxon and fabric for Hayley's outfit, but I got those things when we were told that he would be home in January.
We are literally a handful of weeks of away from homecoming and I have the signs done long before now.
Bad wife.
I got to thinking, Hayley and Jaxon are 3, they will want a sign of their own but they won't be able to handle a big sign. They also can't write. I came up with an idea that solved this issue.
Last deployment, I printed out the sign and then glitter-ized it. I wanted to do something similar for the twins but I wanted them to be able to decorate it themselves.
This is what I came up with:
I designed two, I have two kids, but they decided they wanted the bottom one.
I printed them on my regular printer and had them color the pictures first.
After they went to bed, I set out to finish the project. My plan was to back them with white poster board to give it a rigid backing but white wasn't good enough for kids... Oh no. Hayley had to have pink and Jaxon just had to have blue.
Silly kids.
I cut the poster board to size, used a glue stick to glue them on, let it dry and voila! Homecoming signs for three year olds!
I may end up gluing a stick of some sorts to the back but that still hasn't been decided on completely yet!
Feel free to use the printables I posted for your own signs and make sure if you do, you let me know! I would love to see them :)
